The 2023 Toyota Sienna’s minivan exterior design is an attempt at SUV cosplay but even a casual glance in its direction reveals that it’s a minivan. We are doing well. We love how this minivan behaves on the road with a quiet cabin and a refined ride.
Except for the obvious Any minivan has a practicality advantage. The Sienna’s interior is spacious and well-equipped—though its second-row seats aren’t as removable or stowed away as other vans. Fourth-generation Sienna only available as front-wheel and all-wheel hybrid
The drive variants share the same 245-horsepower rating which proved problematic in our testing. The Sienna’s fuel efficiency of 36 mpg is well above other minivans on the market, but we’d rather drive a Chrysler Pacifica Honda Odyssey or Kia Carnival.
2023 Toyota Sienna Reviews
The Toyota Sienna minivan has been around for decades, but the current model debuted only a few years ago. There’s a lot to like about this latest Sienna. It’s actually a hybrid which means it has better fuel economy than most competing minivans.
EPA estimates Sienna gets 36 Combined driving mpg combined with the Honda Odyssey’s 26 mpg. On top of that you get the typical Sienna benefits such as seating for up to eight passengers and available all-wheel drive. It won’t take you as much as an SUV, but the Sienna offers just as much space as cargo room But the biggest of them all.
There aren’t any major updates to the core Sienna line-up, but the 2023 Sienna does get a new version to celebrate the nameplate’s 25th anniversary. Aptly named the 25th Anniversary Edition this Sienna combines the sporty styling of the XSE trim level with the Limited’s Well-stocked feature set.
It also has special badges and floor mats dedicated to the 25th Anniversary Edition. Only 2525 units will be produced and will only be available with white or silver exterior paint.
There aren’t many minivans on the market any more but those that still exists are competitive. You can look at the Honda Odyssey which is faster and more enjoyable to drive than the Sienna or Chrysler Pacifica which offer a plug-in hybrid The powertrain offers an EPA-estimated 32 miles of all-electric driving range enough to run around town during the day.
2023 Toyota Sienna Specs
Otherwise, how could the new 2023 Toyota Sienna be powered by a hybrid powertrain. It uses a 2.5 litter Atkinson block with two or three electric motors.
Despite 181 kW (246 hp) of performance this configuration is similar to the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid. Force reaches the ground through the front axle (two electric motors) or all four wheels (three electric motors) and is managed by the e-CVT transmission.
Adjusting System Strength The 2023 Toyota Sienna has selectable driving modes. It has four options: EV Normal Eco and Sport prioritizing battery power upon request.
This can be achieved by using incompatible modern efficient platforms. For now mechanical offerings are limited to this option, although new versions may come later.
2023 Toyota Sienna Performance
Compared to most other vans (including the upcoming Sienna with a V6) the Sienna’s pure-hybrid powertrain means it accelerates very smoothly,
But Much it also takes a second longer than its peers to hit 60 mph. Much slower. When you just cruise around town. But you notice it when you merge onto the highway or go uphill.
The Sienna isn’t the most nimble minivan in its class, but it holds its own. It drives more like a car than an SUV. The steering is well-weighted for hours of cruising on the highway. It’s also light and easy to corner during low-speed manoeuvres.
Emergency braking performance is okay but more important is the sometimes awkward grip of the pedals. This can make it difficult to stop smoothly all the time.
2023 Toyota Sienna Engine
Every Sienna comes with an available hybrid system a 2.5 litter four-cylinder engine and two electric motors with a continuously variable automatic transmission. That puts the minivan at 245 horsepower and 36 mpg in fuel economy.
It will depend on whether you get combined mileage is rated at 35 mpg for either the front-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive AWD versions. The Sienna is also equipped with an EV drive mode that allows the car to travel short distances using only electricity.
2023 Toyota Sienna Interior
Sienna leads the way. It’s at a height that slides in and out easily. The driving position is excellent and versatile. We’re fans of the large central touchscreen with two exceptions: its glare in the midday sun and some remote buttons It feels a little out of reach. All other main controls are placed logically and behave as expected.
Naturally there is good visibility outside the cabin. An optional surround-view camera system that provides a perspective view of the Sienna makes things easier.
There’s also a digital rearview mirror which solves the problem of seeing past headrests or high piles of cargo behind. This sliding door and rear hatch have contactless switch function. Just swipe your feet to operate them.
2023 Toyota Sienna Comfort
After a few hours in the driver’s seat we had no complaints. While this is a common feature in the classroom its extensive adjustability is much appreciated. Optional style in the second row combined with a wide range of fore and aft slides create a business-class feel Gives the Sienna an edge in second-row comfort.
The optional four-zone climate control has one more zone than the competition (three-zone is standard) and it can effectively keep the cabin warm or cold.
Noise is an area of concern. As long as the engine isn’t working hard the cabin is quiet and even serene. When you ask for power the entire cabin will know. The engine and continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) are pretty decent.
Optional on-board voice projection before sending The sound from the passengers through the rear speakers and headphones helps solve the problem. You can keep the shout when you really need it.

2023 Toyota Sienna Exterior
On the exterior of the 2023 Toyota Sienna striking is the inclusion of an elegantly designed front grille. The optics on the sides are more angular and feature LED technology.
There’s a simple-style bumper in the lower area, although it widens a bit at the bottom of the air intakes. Due to its large size the fog lights are located at the lower end. Overall the near-new Highlander is more aggressive.
From the side although more conservative there are some changes. They are valued in the form of wheel arches and tension lines which are now more visible.
Additionally, the roofline features a sharper drop along with up to 20-inch alloy wheels for added sportiness. The integration of the rear sliding door is as perfect as the flat glass proportions.
Finally, we must revisit it. While the 2021 Toyota Sienna has nothing to do with the latest Lexus launch it shows where the inspiration comes from.
Especially the external format of the optical group it reminds us what a new UX or NX will look like. While not forgetting modularity the lines that define the door are more pronounced. We see this as a low load threshold that is useful for accessing many bags.
