2023 Jeep Wrangler Preview

2023 Jeep Wrangler Preview

The iconic Jeep Wrangler has been completely redesigned for the 2018 model year. As the Wrangler enters its fifth model year on sale the rugged SUV is expected to arrive as a carry over. The 2023 Jeep Wrangler shouldn’t see any major changes. Likely to undergo a complete redesign of Wrangler for the 2027 model year.

As a carry over model we expect the 2023 Wrangler to have the same exterior design as the SUV currently on sale. The SUV has an iconic design that looks like a box on wheels with some stylish touches. Thick fender uprights and short overhangs give the Wrangler incredible off-road performance ability.

The Jeep’s seven-slot grille is at the front between the round headlights while the square tail lights and the spare wheel on the swing-out tailgate are at the rear.

The current Wrangler has a simple interior design that should remain unchanged for the 2023 model year. The simple dashboard design makes it easy to see from the front of the SUV while intuitive controls and well-heeled dials are easy to use.

Jeep has installed the Wrangler’s cabin With some rounded touches such as the dashboard steering wheel horns and air vents it creates a harmonious feel. The outgoing Wrangler will continue to feature a removable roof and doors and durable materials that are easy to clean.

2023 Jeep Wrangler Design

In terms of basic design features the 2023 Jeep Wrangler is definitely not going to change much. It’s been a while since the current generation, but there’s still a lot of great stuff to show.

After all the BoF SUV segment isn’t changing that fast. So what we expect to see is a familiar design that includes two familiar body styles available in 2-door and 4-door versions.

As far as new colour options and similar tweaks go the styling changes are likely to be minimal. Of course, we offer various versions including the most powerful models like Rubicon Mojave. These versions are equipped with more powerful off-road hardware and provide unparalleled off-road Performance.

2023 Jeep Wrangler Performance

Make no mistake the Wrangler is a beast when it comes to off-road capability. This is especially true of the Rubicon trim and its 33-inch tires and lockable differential. But day-to-day steering and handling suffer due to the traditional body-on-frame construction solid axle suspension and old-fashioned steering. The long brake pedal travel is great for off-road modulation but not for everyday driving.

2023 Jeep Wrangler Performance

The 3.6 litter V6 is solid and powerful—our four-door Sahara test Wrangler sprinted to 60 mph in 7.6 seconds. The eight-speed automatic shifts smoothly and always seems to be in the right gear.

2023 Jeep Wrangler Engines

We’re assuming the engine line-up won’t change. So the base model should continue to use the old-school 3.6- litter V6 which maxes out at 285 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque.

There’s also a smaller more efficient 2.0 litter turbocharged four-cylinder making about 270 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. Although less powerful this engine actually drives better thanks to more torque.

The 2023 Jeep Wrangler should also continue to have a diesel option. Of course, we’re talking about a powerful 3.0 litter V6 that makes about 260 horsepower and 440 pound-feet of torque. There’s also the recently introduced version with a massive 6.4 litter V8 that puts out a respectable 470 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque.

Finally, there is another recently launched version that comes with a plug-in hybrid setup. This one comes with a 2.0 litter turbocharged four-cylinder engine combined with an electric motor. Total output is a whopping 375 horsepower making this version the second most powerful in the range.

2023 Jeep Wrangler Powertrain Specs

Under the hood the 2023 Jeep Wrangler will feature the same engine as before. Standard is a 3.6 litter V-6 that makes 285 horsepower. The unit delivers power through a six-speed manual transmission or a smooth-shifting eight-speed automatic.

A turbocharged four-cylinder engine is optional it equipped with an electric motor for extra low-end power. The new Wrangler can also be had with a 3.6 Litre V-6 with a similar hybrid assist system.

There’s also a 3.0 litter diesel V-6 to 6.4 Litre V-8 and a new plug-in hybrid 4xe powertrain that delivers 375 horsepower and up to 25 miles of electric-only driving. With the V6 and six-speed manual transmission the Wrangler can go from zero to 60 mph in 6.1 seconds while the four-door Sahara Slightly faster from 6.5 seconds to 60 mph.

The new Wrangler’s EPA fuel economy estimates of 22 mpg city and 29 highways for the diesel put the SUV ahead of rivals like the Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 and Toyota 4Runner.

2023 Jeep Wrangler Technology

The Jeep Wrangler is surprisingly modern when it comes to infotainment and smartphone integration. The optional 8.4-inch U connect system provides crisp graphics with quick response and one of the best infotainment interfaces in the industry. Plenty of charging ports (USB and USB-C) available.

Apple The Wrangler’s 7-inch and 8.4-inch touchscreens come standard with CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration.

When it comes to advanced driving systems the Wrangler falters. You get some features like blind-spot monitoring, but you won’t find high-tech aids like automatic emergency braking or lane-keep assist.
