2022 Honda Accord Review

The Honda Accord used to be a staple in the midsize sedan market but sales have dropped to the point where today’s iteration is little more than a niche player. still Honda sees fit to continue offering the Accord as it appeals to traditionally rusty buyers who have come to appreciate the brand.

While sedan passenger cars like this are a vanishing commodity in the face of plenty of SUVs the Accord’s sleek design certainly fits the bill. It also offers a lot of other features and offers a lot of features and well-sorted driving dynamics. Let’s take a longer look.

2022 Honda Accord Design

Okay one thing the Accord isn’t exciting. My tester wore the Civic Type R’s Sonic Gray paint nicely with plenty of gloss black and chrome accents adding some interest, but the overall shape was bland.

There’s no flair for the three-box design. I like blurry The hatchback shape and the chrome strip that connects the headlights even though it’s single-brow.

It’s not an unattractive car, but the Accord starts to feel anonymous when I see the verve and drama of a Sonata or K5. The Sport does add some unique wheel badges and a small spoiler On the rear deck but overall it was a challenge to pick from the wider family.

The theme extends to a cabin that’s almost indistinguishable from any other Accord. The leather-wrapped steering wheel provides a pair of paddle shifters for the 10-speed automatic transmission,

But they’re fairly puny Seats and black cloth/leather upholstery are the same as yours found elsewhere in the collection and without a hint of accent stitching to liven up the desert of dark finishes. The sport pedals add a little flair, but they account for about 10 percent of the excitement a sport-marked vehicle needs.

2022 Honda Accord Space

With 16.7 cubic feet of boot space the Honda Accord has one of the largest cargo areas in the midsize class. The wide boot lid makes it easy to load and unload bulky items such as a set of golf clubs or a few carry-on. The rear seats can also be folded to accommodate longer items such as snowboard or snowboard.

The 2022 Honda Accord is a four-door sedan with five seats. The front seats are supportive and roomy even for taller drivers and passengers though some reviewers felt the seat padding was a little firm.

Outward visibility from the front and sides of the Accord is good while rear sight lines are presentable. The rear seats are particularly spacious with enough headroom and legroom for two adults or three children to sit comfortably.

Cloth upholstery and a manually adjustable driver’s seat are standard. Upgrades include heated and ventilated front seats with leather upholstery power-adjustable and heated rear seats.

The rear outboard seats have two full sets of LATCH connectors and the rear middle seat has a tether anchor. The LATCH system has earned the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s highest Good+ rating which means it’s one of the easiest and most versatile systems to use.

2022 Honda Accord Interior

2022 Honda Accord Interior

The interior of the Accord offers modern design quality soft-touch materials and lots of space along with a user-friendly infotainment system and control layout.

Basic functions are easy to navigate thanks to physical buttons but the layout of controls on the steering wheel is not intuitive and requires to.

The cabin is airy and open, but taller drivers will want to test the seating position because their knees may rub against a piece of hard plastic trim.

The door sills are tall and wide which means other sedans are easier to get in and out of. Rear legroom is very good, although taller passengers will run exceeds headroom and must dodge when leaving the back seat.

Infotainment, Bluetooth, and Navigation

Honda equips every 2022 Accord with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and it’s simple. The graphics are clear the display responds quickly to input and the menu layout is straightforward.

Audio and climate are controlled by physical buttons and knobs on the dash like Nice this makes these settings easy to adjust while driving.

2022 Honda Accord Comfort

2022 Honda Accord Comfort

For the most part the Accord is quiet and comfortable. The front seats have good headrests and comfortable back support, but the seat cushions don’t have a lot of padding.

Finding the right adjustment is important for staying comfortable on long drives. All climate settings can be adjusted Cabin temperature is well regulated with automatic settings with straightforward manual controls and the system.

We tested the top-of-the-line Accord Hybrid Touring with adaptive suspension and big 19-inch wheels. While we appreciate the Touring’s extra features (such as ventilated front seats) we didn’t find the adaptive dampers to contribute much to ride quality. In fact, we’d even recommend the EX or EX-L trim levels if comfort is your top priority.

2022 Honda Accord Performance

We like how the Accord’s engine and transmission respond quickly and deliver plenty of power. The raw numbers aren’t special — our tested 0-60 mph time of 8 seconds is average for a base engine in the segment — but the quick response to driver input is.

Honda’s CVT Automatic will rev the engine as low as possible to improve fuel economy, but it will respond quickly and smoothly to deliver more power when you need it.

Car corners stick well to the road without drama and the brakes are easy to control for smooth stops. Our emergency braking test at 60 mph yielded an average stopping distance for a midsize sedan and the Accord’s braking instilled confidence thanks to a straight arrow stop. This Steering while accurate and easy doesn’t give you much feel for the road.

2022 Honda Accord Engine

The 2022 Honda Accord comes standard with a 192-horsepower turbocharged 1.5 litter four-cylinder. A continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) and front-wheel drive are standard.

This powertrain is great for everyday driving it keeps the elegant line and reaches high speed. The transmission runs smoothly and delicately responds quickly and has respectable passing power on the highway.

For those who want more muscle a 252-horsepower turbocharged 2.0 litter four-cylinder is available mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. This setup pulls the Accord with authority and enables quick passing action. Shifting is quick and seamless.

2022 Honda Accord Fuel Economy & MPG

2022 Honda Accord MPG
2022 Honda Accord MPG

The EPA-estimated 32-33 mpg plus the base engine is good for a midsize sedan. But our average speed on the evaluation route was just 28.5 mpg. Other vehicles we tested did a better job of matching EPA estimates. The Accord’s small turbo engine is in Drive in the real world.

2022 Honda Accord Gas Mileage

When paired with the 1.5 litter engine the Honda Accord has an EPA-estimated 30 mpg in the city and 38 mpg on the highway.

That’s good fuel economy for a midsize sedan beating rivals like the Kia K5 and Nissan Altima by a small margin. That said the Accord’s fuel economy drops to just 22/32 mpg city/highway with the 2.0 litter engine.

2022 Honda Accord Infotainment and Connectivity

All models come standard with a touchscreen infotainment system and an 8.0-inch display. Bluetooth and USB connectivity are also fully available as are Apple CarPlay and Android Auto features. We found the system to be fast appealing and easy to use; even the less tech-savvy should find it intuitive.

Honda offers a 10-speaker premium sound system with a 450-watt amplifier on the EX-L model, but the smaller Accord has a 4- or 8-speaker system.

2022 Honda Accord Safety

The Accord has Honda Sensing…do I really need to say more? OK The Japanese auto-maker’s suite of all-around active safety assists is one of the best in the mainstream market incorporating a mix of technologies (full-speed adaptive cruise control lane centring automatic emergency braking and traffic sign recognition) into a unified package that is standard on every Accord.

The Accord responds well to all the usual highway annoyances whether it’s slow merging traffic or poorly marked lanes. And it doesn’t yell at the driver — a warning does appear when the car thinks its pilot is veering off the road, but Honda’s The engineers didn’t make the system so sensitive that I wanted to turn it off.

In addition to Honda Sensing every Accord comes with LED headlights and tail lights. The base gas and hybrid models limit the great lights to low beams only, but all other trims have full beam capability. Automatic high beams are standard across the board.
