Get revved up as the Beaver car cruise returns

BEAVER − This upcoming Saturday, Beaver hosts the annual Beaver Hot Summer Nights Cruise.

From 11 am till 7 pm, Third Street in downtown Beaver will be closed to general traffic and open to car enthusiasts from across the region and far beyond.

Hotrods, custom rides and antique vehicles will line both sides of the main drag, and fill the parks around the Beaver County Courthouse.

Admission is free.

Visitors will hear oldies music as they look under the hoods and check out the paint jobs on meticulously maintained cars at what’s become one of the nation’s largest car cruises.

Committee members plan for the event from March until the day of the cruise every year, spokesman Dan Nahas said.

“Set-up begins in the days leading up to the cruise and we’re there until late that night,” he said.

There is no overnight parking allowed.

Trailer parking for show cars, courtesy of Eaton Corp., is on Georgetown Road below the solar panels. Show cars begin to arrive at 5 am the day of the cruise.

Cruise T-shirts will be sold out of a trailer in front of the courthouse.

Shell Corp. will bring its NASCAR stock car/race car.

The first 1,500 participants will receive dash plaques.

There will be 50/50 tickets sold with proceeds going to McGuire Memorial Home.

Food vendors will set up on Insurance Street.

Proceed from the cruise go to Friends of Beaver Parks to help improve the town.
