2022 Chevrolet spark Review
A new car that starts under $15,000 sounds like paying for a ticket, but the 2022 Chevrolet Spark makes that fear disappear. The worst thing we can say about the subcompact hatchback is that it has a pitifully small back seat, and folding it can be a frustrating process.
While a narrow rear is common in this class, the Hyundai Accent and Kia Rio are slightly roomier than the Spark. Its interior certainly isn’t pretty, but sat, but, it doesn’t suffer from the wobbly materials that compromise Mitsubishi’s alternatives. Plus Chevrolet’s content-rich infotainment system, The system is intuitive and easy to use.
Every 2022 Spark’s engine is lackluster on the highway, but it works well around town and in traffic, where the car shines nimble. For the best driving experience we recommend the manual transmission available on all models, Pruning this is unusual these days.
What’s New for 2022?
The 2022 Spark enters a new model year without any major changes. Its calling card remains one of the cheapest new cars on the market, about $1,500 less than the equally cheap Mitsubishi Phantom.
Unfortunately, Chevrolet announced that Spark will be discontinued after For the 2022 model year, production runs through August.
2022 Chevrolet spark price
While there’s no Spark that’s objectively full of content, the surcharge on the 1LT trim brings useful features including satellite radio and keyless entry. However, we can’t recommend the $1,100 continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT).
If you don’t know how to drive A car with a manual transmission is a learning engine here. The faux off-road Active trim isn’t worth it. Keep it simple, as Chevrolet does with the regular Spark.
Engine, Transmission, and Performance
Every Spark has a puny four-cylinder engine that drives the front wheels via a five-speed manual or continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). Thankfully, the gearless automatic manages power well without the humming engine noise.
Although the version we tested was in low response, The speed around town is ready to wait as it accelerates to higher speeds. This little hatchback is definitely not designed for long trips, but it’s efficient and quiet in the city. Spark can easily traverse slow-moving traffic with fast lateral movements and steady motion. It’s The short wheelbase facilitates maneuverability in tight spaces without compromising ride quality.
2022 Chevrolet spark mpg
Despite the Spark’s small size and engine, it doesn’t earn an excellent fuel economy rating. In city driving, the manual transmission is rated at 29 mpg and the automatic transmission is rated at 30.
Highway estimates are 37 mpg for the Active model and 38 for the other models. These figures far exceed The Mitsubishi Mirage is rated up to 36 mpg city and 43 highway.
The automatic Spark LT we ran on our 75-mph highway fuel-economy course, part of our extensive testing regimen, returned 37 mpg. For more information on Spark fuel economy, visit the EPA website.
The Chevy remains resilient on uneven surfaces, with the worst bumps barely isolated. However, rattles and road noise are softer than rival economy cars. The Spark’s steering feels straightforward and communicates, Thankfully, the road surface to the driver’s hand. It’s also relaxed on the freeway and can easily change lanes without twitching. The firm brake pedal is responsive and helps scrub speed quickly and consistently.
2022 Chevrolet spark interior,
The Spark avoids the poor interior quality common to such budget cars. Although most plastics are hard, they hold together evenly and have an attractive texture. Desirable features are mostly limited to leather trim and heated front seats.
The driving position is upright, in A crossover, with foldable armrests to keep you comfortable. The large front doors and raised seat height make climbing into the cockpit easy. Unfortunately, the cramped front seats have flimsy cushions and no lateral support.
Comfort, and Cargo
The back seat is undoubtedly cramped. The front seats must be Slide forward for a comfortable fit for adults. We installed three carry-ons behind the Spark’s rear seat, providing 11 cubic feet of cargo space.
With the rear seat stowed it increases to 27 cubes which can swallow a total of 15 bags. However, this is a very unwieldy shift. It takes Move the front seats forward so that the bottom cushions can flip up before the setbacks fold down. Even so, the cargo floor is far from flat. Likewise, loading luggage involves lifting it up and over the rear bumper.

Infotainment and Connectivity
Even the entry-level Spark has a standard 7.0-inch touchscreen with a Wi-Fi hotspot and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capabilities. The infotainment screen is primarily controlled by touch, but useful volume knobs and redundant buttons are conveniently located.
A pair of USB ports and a 12-volt power socket is located under the center console.
Safety and Driver-Assistance Features
While Chevrolet’s small hatchback comes with some driver-assistance tech, the most notable options are reserved for the most expensive models.

Warranty and Maintenance Coverage
Compared to the Mirage’s 10 years or 100,000 miles, the Spark’s limited warranty and powertrain warranty aren’t surprising. However, the Chevrolet is a much better car overall.
It also includes five years or 60,000 miles of roadside assistance.
