The 2022 Genesis G70 is a well-rounded luxury small sedan. It’s outfitted with standard features that include leatherette upholstery, heated front seats, and a sunroof. The base engine is peppy and gets good fuel economy, while the available V-6 has serious power.
The 2022 Genesis G70 has composed handling and a comfortable ride, but its brakes could be more responsive. This Genesis also has one of the nicest interiors in the class, with high
2022 Genesis G70 small luxury sedan the 2022 Genesis G70 will get a full refresh in 2022. The exterior has been refreshed including a larger shield grille to better align with the brand’s latest models such as the G90 large sedan and GV80 SUV. Interior upgrades are also on the list of changes to the 2022 Genesis G70 include a larger 10.25-inch infotainment system screen and more premium materials.
2022 Genesis G70 Review
Genesis has revamped its entry-level luxury G70 sedan for 2022 with updated front and rear styling as well as interior tweaks that bring the car in line with the new G80 sedan and GV80 SUV visually. Genesis also addresses one of our complaints inside the 2022 G70 Larger more advanced infotainment display. The optional six-speed manual transmission for the G70 has been discontinued.
You also have a lot of fun when the road starts to curve. Thanks to lively handling and a powerful engine this is one of the sportiest cars in its class. A special mention goes to the available 365-horsepower V6 engine—it produces a surprising amount of power without having to work very hard. Return Available is a sophisticated all-wheel-drive system that enhances wet-weather traction and the G70’s playful handling attitude.
2022 2022 Genesis G70 Engine
The base G70 2.0T comes with a turbocharged 2.0 litter four-cylinder that sends 252 horsepower to the rear wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel drive is optional. Its engine feels reserved around town and acceleration times are mediocre.
However, when our hearts miss a beat We drove the twin-turbo 3.3 litter V-6 with 365 ponies and 376 pound-feet of torque. We spent some personal time in the rear-drive 3.3T and were mesmerized by the engine’s thrust waves which sprinted from zero to 60 mph in 4.7 seconds in our testing.
In spite of POWERTRAIN CONFIGURATION The G70 has a professionally balanced ride and handling characteristics. Its suspension smoother out uneven surfaces and the sedan in composure remains composure during intense cornering.
The more powerful 3.3T has the benefit of adaptive dampers to keep the driver a sedan ride when necessary but every G70 we’ve driven has done an excellent job of getting information into the driver’s hands. Its steering feedback is precise and pleasant and the force can be adjusted by switching between multiple drive modes.
2022 Genesis G70 Performance
The G70 has a powerful V6 engine and good steering feel and is easy to drive. The turbocharged V6 produces 365 horsepower making it one of the fastest in its class, and it sprints to 60 mph in 4.9 seconds.
With a healthy 376 lb-ft of torque the G70 doesn’t have to downshift as much either. But when we finally asked for it, we did find the transmission a little reluctant to downshift.
The G70 has the potential to be a fun car, but we found it a little floppy in the corners. Its all-wheel drive lacks sophistication and the all-season tires don’t provide the grip to balance the power. Tires also affect braking times. Our test car stopped at 60 mph 125 feet below class standard.
2022 Genesis G70 Interior
Attractive materials and exceptional build quality are used inside the G70 for a luxurious experience. Its driver-focused layout and intuitive controls satisfy driving enthusiasts. Likewise, the upscale glossy and decorative stitched surfaces on our test car appeased our wealthy side.
Genesis also kept things classy by avoiding the urge to stick faux carbon fibre bits and a flat-bottomed steering wheel into the cabin and the result is an interior that looks more luxurious than an Alfa Romeo Giulia or Jaguar XE.
The front seats strike a good balance between comfort and comfort The sporty rear seat suffers from limited legroom. We managed to fit 5 carry-on fibre in the boot of the G70 for a total of 14 with the rear seats folded.
The interior cubicle locker includes a practical tray in the front of the centre console ideal for storing smartphones and other small items. Unfortunately the door pockets are tiny and the centre console bin lacks organization.
2022 Genesis G70 Comfort
The seats offer the all-day comfort we’ve come to expect from the Genesis and the suspension does a good job of absorbing harsh bumps.
The G70 has a noisier cabin than other luxury competitors. On flat roads it’s a very quiet cruiser but on rough pavement road noise can be a distraction. Climate control cabin temperature is maintained well, and the seat heaters work quickly.
2022 Genesis G70 Technology
If having the latest luxury tech is a priority the G70 will mostly satisfy. It comes with advanced driver assistance systems all of which work well.
Apple and Android smartphone integration is standard and easy to use but still requires a cable. Some competitors offer wireless connectivity.
Less impressive is the standard audio system which won’t wow anyone. Onboard navigation is nice but doesn’t break new ground. Voice control is available for navigation and radio functions but not for vehicle functions.
2022 Genesis G70 Fuel Economy and MPG
According to the EPA the most efficient G70 model is the rear-wheel-drive version with the 2.o litter turbocharged four-cylinder. That car is rated at 22 mpg city 30 mpg highway and 25 mpg combined.
The four-cylinder G70 managed 31 mpg on our 200-mile highway fuel economy test; and We recorded an impressive 29 mpg onboard the twin-turbo V-6. More on G70 Fuel Economy
2022 Genesis G70 Storage
The G70 isn’t particularly practical for a sedan though the cabin offers a decent amount of place to store and organize small items. The boot has a wide opening but at 10.5 cubic feet it’s small even for a class. Larger suitcases can be very tight but if you need extra There are no extra rear passengers, and you can fold the rear seats at any time.
While car seat anchors are easily accessible a heavier car seat may compromise front seat space due to limited rear space.
