The 2022 Nissan Rogue is a small SUV that’s the company’s best-selling model. It was redesigned last year, and we love the added comfortable storage space and available technology so much that we topped our small SUV rankings.
It’s a sophomoric year and this latest generation Rogue Receive a new, more powerful engine with the promise of improved fuel economy. The 2022 Rogue definitely excels in fuel economy with the base front-wheel-drive model earning an EPA-estimated 33 mpg 3 mpg more than the 2021 model.
The engine is also paired with a new continuously variable automatic transmission with wider gear ratio coverage and other updates, Nissan says this helps improve mpg and responsiveness.
2022 Nissan Rogue Engine and Performance
The car’s only engine is a 201-horsepower 1.5 litter three-cylinder that’s more than enough to drive around town. While it’s more capable than the Rogue’s previous four-cylinder accelerating to highway speeds or passing other cars on the highway, it can be laborious. The engine also drones under hard acceleration.
A continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) convincingly mimics the shifting of a conventional automatic transmission. It was smooth, but not always timely.
2022 Nissan Rogue Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG
The Rogue is powered by a new turbocharged three-cylinder engine, capable of 30 mpg in the city and 37 mpg on the highway.

2022 Nissan Rogue Design
The Rogue’s fresh styling and plenty of features help it stand out from the competition, and the extra oomph of the new engine will only enhance the 2022 offering. In terms of features, every Rogue comes with an impressive array of standard driver-assistance features such as forward collision mitigation and blind-spot monitoring and entertainment technology, including Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone integration.
On top of the platinum trim, you’ll find quilted leather seats and a head-up display. The Rogue still faces top contenders, including the Honda CR-V and Mazda CX-5. We’ll see if it moves up further in our rankings once we’re able to fully test and evaluate it.
2022 Nissan Rogue Interior
The Rogue’s interior borrows styling cues from the Ultima family sedan and the recently redesigned Sentra compact sedan. Thoughtful lockers a double-layered instrument panel and a square-shaped shift knob are exterior-rich design elements that enhance usability and give the interior a modern touch.
Cloth seats are standard, but mid-range SV models can have optional faux-leather upholstery; premium SL and Platinum Rogues get genuine leather, the latter semi-aniline leather with quilted stitching. Three-zone automatic climate control heated front seats and heated steering Wheels are all available features.
Interior passenger space is about the same as the outgoing model, but cargo volume behind the rear seats is down slightly from 39 to 37 cubic feet.

The mid-level SV model offers the best combination of features for the price. It adds details like 18-inch aluminium wheels an eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat a 360-degree exterior camera system and Nissan’s ProPilot Assist semi-autonomous driving mode.

2022 Nissan Rogue Test
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gave the 2022 Rogue a 4 out of 5 overall safety rating 4 stars in frontal crash and rollover tests and 5 stars in side crash tests.
As of this writing, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has not reviewed the 2022 Nissan Rogue. However, the IIHS named a similar 2021 Rogue a Top Safety Pick+ the organization’s highest honour.
2022 Nissan Rogue Value
The all-new 2022 Nissan Rogue is a stylish and capable crossover SUV that should appeal to a wide range of shoppers. It has a comfortable and commodious interior, a long list of standard features and a smooth ride.
The Rogue also boasts excellent safety scores and good fuel economy. However, its infotainment system is dated and there’s not much space for cargo in the back.if you’re looking for an affordable crossover SUV with plenty of bells and whistles, the Rogue is worth considering.
