With a spacious cabin that seats up to eight people, the 2023 Nissan Pathfinder is ready for family transportation responsibilities. What’s New for 2023?
Nissan will add a rugged Rock Creek model to the Pathfinder lineup for 2023. It features slightly raised 18-inch all-terrain tires on unique wheels a revised front grille and lower bumper and standard all-wheel drive.
The V-6 gets a 295-horsepower boost in Rock Creek models. The Rock Creek’s interior differs from the regular Pathfinder with special cloth and vinyl upholstery orange stitching and Rock Creek badging on the seats and center console.

While Nissan packs the S and SV Pathfinder with desirable driver assistance features, if that fits your budget, we recommend the more expensive SL trim. Upgraded from SV adds larger 9.0-inch infotainment system 360-degree camera system and wireless Apple CarPlay connectivity.
Adding the SL Premium package for $2900 gives the Pathfinder 20-inch wheels a panoramic sunroof heated rear seats with a Bose stereo and wireless smartphone charging making the Pathfinder very luxurious. The package also includes everything needed to unlock the Pathfinder’s 6000 pounds towing capacity.
2023 Nissan pathfinder Engine, Transmission, and Performance
While the Pathfinder retains the previous-generation model’s 3.5-liter V-6 it ditches the continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) in favor of a new nine-speed automatic. The V-6 makes 284 hp in most models, but 295 hp in Rock Creek trim. Front-wheel drive yes Standard, but all trims can be had with all-wheel drive.
Upgrading to the all-wheel-drive system also adds a set of seven drive modes, including the off-road-focused Sand and Mud/Rut modes. On our test track,k our front-wheel-drive Pathfinder SL test car hit 60 mph in 6.7 seconds; All-wheel drive does it in 6.6 seconds. These results mean the all-wheel-drive Pathfinder is faster than the Subtelluride and Toyota Highlander.
The handling is completely forgettable and not fun at all, but the Pathfinder rides fairly smoothly and Nissan’s attention is focused on Noise-cancelling elements make the cabin quieter when cruising.
Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG
According to the EPA, the most efficient Pathfinder is actually the model with optional all-wheel drive, which is rated at 21 mpg city 27 mpg highway and 23 mpg combined; front-wheel drive models get the same city and a combined rating but only 26 mpg highway.
