Like the 2022 model, the redesigned 2023 Niro Hybrid will be powered by a 139-horsepower hybrid powertrain consisting of a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine and an electric motor. A six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission will be standard, while the 2023 Niro will be offered with front-wheel drive only.

Range, Charging, and Battery Life
The plug-in hybrid model features an 11.1-kilowatt-hour battery pack that is said to provide about 33 miles of electric driving range per charge. Kia says the battery can be recharged in less than three hours when the car is connected to a Level 2 charger.
Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG
Official EPA estimates haven’t been released, but Kia says it expects the Niro Hybrid to get 53 mpg combined. That would be 3 mpg more than the current Niro on the same metrics.

A more sculptural interior design creates a more contemporary feel inside the new Niro. Kia uses recycled materials and natural fibers such as eucalyptus leaves in the headliner and upholstery.

A large 10.3-inch infotainment display is expected to be standard on the Niro lineup and should run the latest version of the Kia UVO infotainment system. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard; a wireless smartphone charging pad and an eight-speaker Harman/Kardon stereo system is optional.
Safety and Driver-Assistance Features
A range of driver assistance features are standard on all Niro models, including pedestrian detection blind-spot monitoring and lane-keeping assist. A more advanced adaptive cruise control system with semi-autonomous driving modes will be offered as an option.
