The 2023 Honda Pilot is a great choice for families who need a reliable and spacious SUV. The 2023 Honda Pilot has plenty of room for eight passengers and their gear, and it comes standard with plenty of safety features. If you’re looking for an SUV that can do it all, the Honda Pilot should be at the top of your list.
Honda Pilot Expert Review
The outgoing Honda Pilot is a little old. It debuted in 2016. We expect the next-generation Honda Pilot is currently in development and could be launched in 2023. Here’s what the redesigned 2023 Honda Pilot might offer in the competitive three-row SUV segment.
What We Think
There’s a lot to like about the Honda Pilot. Spacious, versatile and comfortable, the 2022 model hits key targets for a three-row family crossover. More importantly, it drives with pinpoint precision like many Honda models.
However, the age of the pilot was not concealed. It’sIt The model’s debut in 2016 featured stylized interiors and technical features.
To that end, the development of new pilots may be well underway. However, it shapes that family SUVs should retain the positive attributes of the nameplate while hopefully becoming more modern and attractive.
The three-row SUV segment has come a long way in the past few years – hopefully by 2023 The Honda Pilot will update its competitive position.
Will the 2023 Pilot Be a 3-Row SUV?
The Pilot is one of Honda’s three-row vehicles, the other being the Odyssey minivan. All signs point to a future Pilot still capable of seating up to eight passengers.
The current Pilot has a fairly roomy third row, so hopefully the next iteration will keep or improve Spacious access and amenities in the rear seat.
2023 Honda Pilot Engine
The Pilot has always had a V-6 engine, and we expect it to carry over into the next generation.
Chances are it’s the same powertrain used in today’s Pilot, a 3.5-liter V-6 hooked up to a nine-speed automatic transmission that makes 280 hp and 262 lb-ft of torque. Front-wheel drive is standard and all-wheel drive is optional.
Fuel economy probably won’t change much from the roughly 19/26 MPG city/highway the Pilot now gets.
The First Honda Pilot Hybrid?
There’s never been a hybrid Honda Pilot, but that could change in the next generation. After all, major competitors like the Toyota Highlander Ford Explorer and Kia Sorento come with electric powertrains.
We’re not sure what powertrain the potential 2023 Pilot Hybrid will use, The system in the CR-V Hybrid may not be enough to move a three-row SUV with passengers. If it follows the CR-V Hybrid’s general formula, the 2023 Pilot Hybrid will balance its higher starting price with improved fuel economy.

Will There Be a 2023 Pilot?
Honda is building out its new TrailSport sub-brand, which outfits its popular crossover with off-road-inspired styling and hardware touches.
The track-oriented transformation of the Honda TrailSport models (Pilot and Passport) has so far been fairly restrained, limited to the tough-looking details of All-terrain tires and a small suspension lift.
We anticipate that the 2023 Pilot TrailSport model may also be better equipped for proper off-road use this time around.
Safety Ratings and Features
Given that every new Honda comes with the Honda Sensing suite, which includes driver assistance and active safety features, it will almost certainly be standard on the upcoming Pilot. That means useful tech like adaptive cruise control lane keep assist automatic emergency braking and automatic high beams will include in other functions.
Crash safety should remain a top priority, and we suspect Honda will slip the Pilot down from the IIHS Top Safety Pick and the five-star ratings NHTSA has earned over the past few years.
