The Kia Soul boxy urban crossover SUV gets a complete makeover inside and out with new proportions, a fresh face and an updated interior. Kia Soul Overview
Choosing to drive the 2023 Kia Soul speaks for itself, as its unconventional stylized toaster design and memorable ad campaign (which features a hamster dancing to a dance) give it a certain whimsy.
While the Soul looks like nothing else on the road its boxy is true, The body hides a particularly functional cabin that despite its small footprint has plenty of room for people and cargo.
It’s also priced thousands of dollars less than competitors like the Chevrolet Trailblazer Jeep Renegade and Kia Seats, which is also excellent value.
Kia Soul 2022
It’s not the most exciting car in The drive and its 147-horsepower four-cylinder is only matched to a continuously variable automatic transmission and front-wheel drive, but reworked,he Soul offers a compliant ride and multiple virtues that make life enjoyable.
What’s New for 2023?
Kia’s boxy little Soul SUV will get a light makeover in 2023 with a new grille and bumper design. The headlights have been lineup, rlineup, eworked and new 17- and 18-inch wheels are also available.
Unfortunately the powerful 201-horsepower turbocharged 1.6-liter engine has been dropped reworked,he line up, A 147-horsepower 2.0-liter four-cylinder is the sole engine. The rugged-looking X-Line model has also been discontinued.
We love the GT-Line model, trim, which offers a different take on the Soul’s quirky looks. With its own wheel design and body-color trim systems,it looks sportier than its stablemate.
It comes standard with a suite of driver assistance trim, including automatic emergency braking with blind-spot monitoring Lane keep assist and rear cross-traffic alert.
Engine, Transmission, and Performance
The only engine is a 147-horsepower 2.0-liter four-cylinder with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) and front-wheel drive. On our test track our test vehicle needed 8.0 seconds to hit 60 mph which is behind many competitors.
But the soul feels alive around town When you want to overtake someone, the CVT is willing to choose a lower ratio. Handling isn’t particularly sharp, but the Soul’s mission isn’t to carve corners like a sports car, after all.
Most buyers will find the Soul a comfortable ride that offers enough features to avoid bland.
