Kia Forte vs. Hyundai Elantra

The Hyundai Elantra shares some similarities with the Kia Ford. For example both compact cars have similar features and powertrains. The Kia has more cargo and passenger space but the Hyundai has more snappy handling and it packs a 276-horsepower engine that can outdo anything in strengths. Go to space with Kia. Take modernity for performance.

Kia Forte vs. Toyota Corolla

The Toyota Corolla is another attractive car. It has a comfortable ride and more standard safety features than the Forte, and it’s also available as a hatchback. But Kia is the better choice. It has a more powerful engine a better insulated cabin and a slightly lower retail price than the Toyota, About $1000.

Forte Performance: Fuel efficient but not lively

Forte Engine

You can choose between two engines in this sedan. One is a 147-horsepower 2.0-liter four-cylinder. It is paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT). While this engine can get around town the acceleration and imprecise CVT limit its appeal.

The 201-horsepower turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder is only available in the top-of-the-line GT trim. The engine feels more dynamic and can be had with a six-speed manual or a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Forte Gas Mileage

The base Kia Forte FE has EPA estimates of 31 mpg in the city and 41 mpg on the highway which are good numbers for a compact car. Other trims with the base engine get 29 mpg in the city and 39 mpg on the highway which is still good fuel economy.

The turbocharged four-cylinder model with the manual transmission returns 22/31 mpg while the model with the dual-clutch automatic returns 27/35 mpg.

Forte Ride and Handling

When it comes to ride and handling, this Kia doesn’t agree. Some reviewers criticized its steering blur and float over bumps, but others praised its cushioned ride and precise steering and braking. Front-wheel drive is standard; all-wheel drive is not available.

Forte Reliability

Is the Kia Forte Reliable ?

The 2022 Kia Forte has a predicted reliability score of 87 out of 100. J.D Power predicts a reliability score of 91-100 is considered best 81-90 is great 70-80 is average and 0-69 is fair and considered below average.

Kia Forte Warranty

Kia is backing the 2022 Forte with a five-year/60,000-mile base warranty and a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty. Those terms are longer than those offered by other automakers.
